• all volunteers must be 18 years of age or older for these trips – no minors, even if accompanied by an adult/parent
• teams will return between 5:30pm and 6:00pm CST
• jeans and closed toed shoes are required
• bring work gloves
• bring a sack lunch or be prepared to purchase lunch
• bring chainsaws and rakes if possible
• good attitudes and smiles are mandatory!

At 6am Thursday morning, Guts Church and Pastor Bill Scheer took a Team Relief volunteer group to help with the tornado relief efforts in Moore and Shawnee, Oklahoma. Alongside Pastor Kirk Pankratz, and  Convoy of Hope, Pastor Bill Scheer and Team Relief are providing food and much needed supplies to the families who lost their homes. Guts Church and Team Relief will continue to send supplies every day with the help of FedEx. All donations made at the Guts Distribution Center will be loaded onto a truck daily and shipped via FedEx directly to those in need.

This annual outreach raises funds to help provide food and fresh water drinking wells to the children on the island of LaGonave, Haiti. In addition to helping these children, the Tougher Than Hell Motorcycle Rally has also helping fund the outreach of Friday Groceries at the Guts Distribution Centers in Tulsa and Skiatook, Oklahoma. Every Friday, free groceries are given to families in need at the Distribution Centers. Friday Groceries began in early 2011 and weekly feeds over 500 families in the Tulsa area and another 100 in the Skiatook community.

An additional cause for the annual Motorcycle Rally has been to benefit military veterans in need. With the help of local agencies, Guts Church donates funds raised at the rally, in addition to food and clothing from the Guts Distribution Centers. Honoring our veterans has always been at the heart of this outreach and it will continue for years to come.

Yesterday, with the help of FedEx, Guts Church sent 26 pallets of food, water and supplies to the families who were affected by the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma. Every day this week, Guts Church will be accepting donations in Tulsa and Skiatook, Oklahoma. Those donations will then be loaded on a truck and sent via FedEx to Moore, Oklahoma. A detailed list of needs from our friends at JourneyChurch.tv in Norman and Oklahoma City is below.

Pastor Bill has been speaking and meeting with state and regional officials all morning as well as a number of Senior Pastors in the area most affected by the tornado. Guts Church and Team Relief are ready and waiting on specific direction from these contacts on how we can best serve those in need.

While those details are still developing – Team Relief and the GUTS Distribution Center have initiated an immediate relief plan, where your donations of food, water, Gatorade and children’s supplies (including diapers) will be collected at Guts Church in Tulsa and Skiatook, Oklahoma and then taken for distribution directly to affected families in the Moore community.

Prayer doesn’t seem to come natural for people. It seems to be the last ditch option that is pursued primarily from desperation. Why is it that we look for natural answers first, natural solutions first, when our Father has the ability and desire to lead us right to the answers. I believe it is an issue of control.

How often do we then enter into prayer once we have found our solution we want and then look to the Father to bring it to pass. This is again an act of control on our part.

Lordship is all about trust and control. When Jesus is Lord we have given him control and we must trust Him with the control of our life. It is easiest to relinquish control when we can truly trust the person in charge, and he is truly trustworthy.

Please understand God wants what is best for you!

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Our ability to understand any situation is finite, but the Lord has infinite understanding. Wouldn’t you prefer to see things how He sees them, with everything revealed about your situation in life?

Psalm 147:5 How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!

Furthermore He is willing to share those insights with you!

Jeremiah 33:3 Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.

The One who has great plans for you, has infinite understanding, and is willing to show you how to navigate life is your Father. Our prayers work best when we start with looking for His wisdom and understanding. This is exactly how the Apostle Paul operated throughout the book of Acts and in the letters he sent to Ephesus and Colosse.

Col 1:9 So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Eph 1:15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling,

If you need answers concerning circumstances or direction in life, the best place to start is with the Father. Jesus reminded us to “seek first the Kingdom of God and all things would be added to us.”

He is the Man with the Plan, so go and seek Him.

In gale-force winds and 43 degree weather, Lamont (AKA Lamell) Thompson ran his mile for time. The challenge set before young Lamont was to run a 5 minute 15 second mile – or better. Lamont’s unofficial time today was 05:54:50 – leaving him just shy of the goal – but keeping the rest of his intern team safe from a gauntlet of 6,500 burpees.

What’s a Guts Girls event without incredible giveaways? Attendees were encouraged to  participate in the contest via Social Media for their chance to win one of a host of prizes–everything from Spa Treatments to Gym Memberships. In typical Guts Girls fashion, the fun didn’t stop there. Donned in our best work out gear, all women in attendance had the option to either ‘Cha-Cha-Cha’ their way to a Zumba class, or kick back & take it easy in a more subdued, but equally as fun, Yoga class. Classes were taught by certified instructors from LifeTime Fitness & to say a good time was had by all is an understatement–both classes were a huge hit!

As a fun surprise for the evening, Pastor Sandy’s official kick-off in anticipation for the 2013 Guts Girls Brunch was met with uproarious applause. We want you in on all the fun, so save the date for Saturday, August 17th for Guts Girls in the City–a tribute to the Concrete Jungle, the Big Apple, & the City That Never Sleeps: New York, New York. 2 Thessalonians 3:2  Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and the patience of Christ.

God, first and foremost, directs our hearts into love before directing our steps into action.  As we know, anything we do without being rooted in love is worthless.  What we do that originates from love is fruitful and everlasting.  Love begins with the benefit of others before self.   The right things in life are always the things we look to pour more into, not get more out of.  Your heart provides some of the best road signs in life.  What is your heart calling you to do?

The difference between Jesus and most believers comes down to one thing; Jesus as a man identified himself with the power of God, not his natural abilities.  Most believers identify themselves with natural abilities and resources, saying “I can’t do that because I don’t have the money, education, time, etc.”  Jesus identified with who he was, not what he did or what he had.  Look at Eph 3:20 and think about your life.

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

Who is giving the power?  God.  Who is doing the work through us?  God.  Who is doing the asking and thinking?  Us.  When you read the gospels and look at what Jesus did, he asked and thought (identified his position with God), and God worked through him.  Our dependence is always on the power of God to work through us, not in our natural abilities or resources.

Even in the Old Testament this principle was true.

Deuteronomy 7:1 “When the Lord your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you,

God sent the Israelites straight into a battle they could not win on their own.  The only physical way to win the battle was to trust in the power of God working through them as they stepped onto the battlefield.  Those who chose to trust in God working through them did enter and win, and those who chose not to trust God’s power working through them did not enter and lost.

The power of God working through us is what brings victory in our battles.  It is our trust and identification that His power works through us that brings the tangible victory.

Colossians 1:27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The hope that you have today is Christ working through you!  Christ in this scripture does not refer to the man Jesus, but the power of God.  It is truly the power of God in you that is the hope of glory.

Anchor your hope today to the knowledge that the power of God rests in you.  Think on this and then make your requests in prayer, followed by a simple rest while trusting the Lord to perform on your behalf.

Prov 12:25  Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.

The “good word” are the promises God gave us!  These promises ensure all things will work together for our good.  If you have been around good teaching or other believers maybe you know some of these promises, but how real and tangible are these to you today?

Years ago I heard the voice of the Lord say, “you will never be able to do what I’ve called you to do unless you can learn to enter My rest.”  I found Hebrews chapter 4 as the chapter written about the rest that is available for us today and encourage you to read it.  We should all ask “what do I do to enter His rest”?

Hebrews 4:11  Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest

Many believers are diligent about their work, or hobbies but few are diligent about seeking the Lord and His rest.   The challenge today is not to be diligent only in things of the world and lazy about entering His rest.

Diligence defined is, earnest and persistent application to an undertaking; steady effort.

This isn’t about having a token “quiet time” but actually studying the Bible and praying until you find rest, until His promises are more real than your circumstances.  It is applying steady effort first to study the word of God as the undertaking of your life.  For this was the example left for us by believers in the Bible.

Hebrews 6:11-12

11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Today, there is rest available for you, and it opens the door to His promises.  Take time to diligently pursue the presence of the Lord and you will be greatly rewarded.

Prov 13:4 The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing, but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

He is waiting on you.  Find the wealth of peace in His presence and receive the gift of His promises today.
