The sole objective of the Guts Distribution Center is to bring the saving knowledge of Jesus to the community. Our motto is to Help People Win. We do this by giving people all the help we can. We supply people with groceries and household items but we also present them with Jesus. Friday Groceries began as a weekly food distribution outreach in September 2010. The outreach continued to expand which led to the launch of the Distribution Center. We jump started the Distribution Center with “Barefoot Sunday” in April 2011. Every member wore a pair of shoes to church with the objective of donating them at the end of service. On the first Barefoot Sunday, over 5,500 pairs of shoes were given by members of Guts Church. Since that day, we have given over 30,000 pairs of shoes to people in our community! The Distribution Center now houses Friday Groceries each week as well as a fully operational Thrift Store.
The Distribution Center began simply by word of mouth. The first week, 35 families attended Friday Groceries; the second week, 90 families; and the third week 150 families were helped. The Distribution Center now averages 500 families per week.
The Distribution Center is run by a team of over 100 volunteers each week. This includes volunteers who oversee the packaging of groceries for Friday Groceries, the operation of the Thrift Store, and the day-to-day upkeep of the Distribution Center, as well as receiving donations. In September 2013, we added a church service to Friday Groceries to better meet the needs of the families who come for groceries. This additional service has dramatically increased the number of opportunities for our volunteers to serve and minister to those in need.
