22 Aug Good News
I have been asked by a few people in the past few days about what’s going on in the world right now. The go-to question from some, since I’m a pastor is, “is this the end times?” Well, sure it is, it has been for a couple millenniums. But, this sure does seem different.
The big difference in my opinion is, whatever you’re reading this blog on is a game changer. Bad news has been a staple since the fall of man, it’s just been specific to what’s happened in one’s life or family or friend or hometown. Now, it all gets in your home, it’s global and can become overwhelming. Ferguson Missouri, Iraq, Israel, all have constant access into our homes and hearts. I believe we have a responsibility to influence the world to peace and love, but the only thing we have for that, is the name of Jesus.
This is where doctrine comes in. It’s very clear to me in the Word that all this stuff is to be expected, so the focus for us needs to be on the huge win Jesus won on our behalf. We can’t earn it and I know for me, don’t deserve it, but can receive it simply by trusting Him. Which brings me to my point. God’s promises in our lives takes losing out of the equation. He removes our excuses and explanations and gives us the responsibility to win the world to Jesus. Jesus quoted the prophet Joel and made it first person when He said, ” the Spirit of The Lord is upon me and He’s anointed me to preach the good news…”
That’s what we need to focus on and give in healthy doses to the world around us, GOOD NEWS!
Strain to see it, through the deluge of “breaking news” that breaks down our souls. Keep it in front of your eyes, meditate on it, store it in your heart and live the fruit of it.
God sent His Word to heal us and deliver us from our destructions, then leads us in triumph.
Now, go win, everyday.
