06 Mar It’s the Shoes
Hope you’re well. I was praying this morning and had an idea that may interest you.
Palm Sunday, March 24th, at Guts Church is an amazing day, it’s a day we pull out all the stops and celebrate people at a massive level, but from a different approach. Palm Sunday becomes Barefoot Sunday. Everyone comes to church and leaves their shoes and not just the shoes they are wearing, but shoes from their closet. Not worn out shoes, quite the contrary, some of the best shoes they own. Some people even bring brand new shoes to give. It’s one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced. (It ranks up there with game 6 of the 2011 World Series, where the St. Louis Cardinals just would not lose or with the Monday Night Football game I went to at Soldier Field in Chicago last year, where the Bears asserted their will on the Lions.)
Last year over 12,000 pairs of shoes were given Barefoot Sunday at Guts Church, which have been distributed to people in need for the past year at The Guts Church Distribution Center. This year there are churches partnering with us on this and I thought I may be able to leverage my blog to get you involved too.
It’s simple, go to your closets and start packing shoes in a box and send them to:
