11 Aug Obtaining Hope
Hope is tangible. Have you ever experienced hope that changes the atmosphere? Maybe it was when your team was losing and time was running out. One big play changes the atmosphere and restores the belief that a win is possible. Even through small situations like this we learn that hope does not come naturally. Hope is tangible. Hope is something we must obtain.
( Hebrews 6:18 ) That by two immutable things in which is it impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope that is set before us. 19 This hope we have as an anchor to our soul, both sure and steadfast and which enters the Presence behind the veil.
Hope is the confident expectation of good in our lives. It is easy to measure whether we have obtained hope, or are without hope, based on how we see our future. Hope is the most powerful agent of change, it is the tangible presence of faith working in our lives.
God has set hope before you like a great prize. It is a possession of immense and immeasurable value. When the tangibility of hope is set before us, we must receive it, lay hold of it by passionate action of our faith.
There is a process to hope. We receive the initial wave of confident expectation when someone encourages us, we hear a good message that stirs us, or we sense the Lords presence in prayer and through studying His word. When that happens, we must choose to “lay hold” of the hope, the confident expectation of good that is laid in front of us. Otherwise the seed of confidence is lost.
( Hebrews 10:23 ) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering. For He who promised is faithful.
Once we have obtained tangible hope, we must hold fast to it and carry it forward. Hope is not a fleeting emotion we allow to dissipate. It is the presence of God that we cling to. What we confess reflects what we are hoping for. Confession is the evidence of hope in our lives.
( Hebrews 10:35 ) Therefore do not cast away your confidence which has great reward.
The fulfillment of God’s promises in your life is the prize hidden inside of hope. Paul challenged us not to cast away His confidence, for the reward is delivered by this hope.
Today if you are facing a challenge and need hope, God is there through His promises and prayer to lay it before you. Find hope, obtain hope and cling to hope. For hope carries with it your reward.
