03 Sep The New List
When I first came to Christ about 30 years ago, it felt as though I was handed a list of “do’s and don’ts” by Christians around me.
For years I tried living by them, but it never brought me into deeper relationship with Christ. Paul wrote about the nature of Christ, and with that everything changes, for as your nature changes so go your actions.
Instead of a list of “do’s and don’ts” we are given a list of “is and is nots.”
These attributes are who we aspire to become, for when we have these, we truly reflect Christ. Here is Gods list of what love looks like from I Cor 13:4.
Since God is love, then this reflects who He is:
What love is / Who God is:
– Bears all things
– Believes all things
– Hopes all things
– Endures all things
– Never Fails
What love is not / Who God is not:
– Insist on your own way
Our objective is more of Him and less of us, reflected in life. Review this list and ask yourself, “where do I need to ask God to bring me growth?”
