What Do I Do Now?

What Do I Do Now?

Pastor Sandy Scheer

IMG_5280Change is happening in the Scheer family! Our 28 year old son Taylor is getting married in April. We love our soon-to-be daughter, Cassidi, and she is perfect for him. She fits in our family like she is one of our own. We couldn’t be more excited about our new family and we are excited about the Scheer and Coder families uniting! Our daughter, Brooklyn, is turning 25 in a few days and has a full life. Kennedy is 18 and a senior graduating in May from high school. She will be attending OU in the fall and can’t wait to have some independence. Yep….soooo this means one thing? What am I going to do? Bill and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage in July. We have known each other for 34 years. I found out I was pregnant 11 months after we were married. Yes, we planned it. I have had children in the picture almost my entire marriage. I’ve been VERY involved in every part of their lives.

photoI do not regret one moment of it. We started Guts Church 21 years ago. I’ve loved being involved and truly feel fulfilled in my role but….I’m a mom! No more football games, cheerleading competitions, loud friend sleepovers, trying to stay awake for curfew and late night talks? Ummm…I didn’t sign up for this. I’ve read empty nest books, talked to people in that season of life and well meaning friends say, “you’re going to love it!” Really?
photoI asked God, “What does one do after you’ve spent so much of your life working on a great marriage, raising great kids and growing a great church with friends that you love? The answer…. Enjoy the fruit! Enjoy the life you have prayed for and invested in! I have realized that this is a benchmark experience in my life. I can choose life or death. I choose life! I choose to celebrate what has been accomplished and celebrate what is to come! Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6. Here’s to the next season of life for so many!! Let’s choose wisely!

I’m confident,
Pastor Sandy
