Health & Healing

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Our bodies are not neutral, or disposable, they matter in our walk with God.

1 Timothy 4:7-9
“But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.”

1 Corinthians 9:24-27
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”

Proverbs 23:20-21
“Do not mix with winebibbers, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe a man with rags.”

Glutton - is someone who allows Desire to override Wisdom and Restraint.

Proverbs 25:16
“Have you found honey? Eat only as much as you need, Lest you be filled with it and vomit.”

Rest and Recovery - The Rhythms of Life:

1. Sabbath Rest - (Physical, Rhythmic, Time-Based)

  • Sabbath rest is wisdom rooted in creation, not law

    • Genesis 2:2-3 — God rested and sanctified a day before the law

    • Mark 2:27 — “The Sabbath was made for man”

2. Spiritual Rest - Redemptive - (Position, Righteousness, Eternal, Finished)

  • Matthew 11:28-29 — Jesus said, “I will give you rest”

  • John 19:30 - Jesus said, “It is finished.”

  • Hebrews 4:3 — “Only we who believe (in Christ) can enter that rest”

  • Hebrews 4:10 — “Ceasing from works as God did”

Fatigue does not just weaken the body but our soul. It distorts our decision making ability, attitude and can hurt relationships.

Faith for Healing and Wisdom for Health are not opposing positions; they work together.

John 1:3
“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”

God is the one who created all the natural world and the intellectual ability to understand it and use it for our benefit.

Proverbs 107:17-20
God sent His Word to Heal and deliver us from our destructions

Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Don’t forget ALL His benefits!

Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.

Faith lives on the offensive!

Healing is here!
