Joshua 24:15
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
You must consciously choose whom you serve.
Salvation and obedience involve deliberate decision.
Let’s build strong families.
Family is Founded on God’s Word
Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
A strong biblical family:
Make the Word the final authority
Prays together
Worships together
Seeks God in decisions
What are we building on?
2. A Biblical Family Understands Roles
In Ephesians 5:22-25:
Wives are called to respect their husbands.
Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church — sacrificially.
Biblical headship is not domination; it is servant leadership. Christ leads the church through love and sacrifice. That is the model for husbands.
Ephesians 6:1-4
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” 4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
3. A Biblical Family Forgives and Collects Grace
Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Forgiveness is never weakness. It is strength under control.
Mercy triumphs over judgment.
4. Family Prioritizes Spiritual Legacy
Strong doctrine and faith
Faith is meant to shape our family’s everyday life.
What do my children see in my daily walk?
Do they see prayer?
Do they see repentance?
Do they see genuine love?
Build family beyond today but for generation.
5. A Biblical Family Keeps Jesus at the Center
Programs cannot save a family.
Money cannot secure a family.
Success cannot hold a family together.
Only Jesus can.
In Psalm 128, the blessing of a family flows from fearing the Lord and walking in His ways.
When God is the bullseye:
Love deepens.
Peace increases.
Unity strengthens.
Purpose becomes clear.
Choose this day whom you will… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
That is the decision every family must make.
Not:
“As for me and my house, we will follow culture.”
“As for me and my house, we will chase success.”
But:
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
May our homes be places of prayer.
May our tables be places of teaching.
May our marriages reflect Jesus.
May our children see authentic faith.
And may it be said of our families:
They build their house on the Rock.
