What is the Daniel Fast?
The Daniel Fast is a spiritual fast based on the prophet Daniel’s example in the Bible, where he chose simple food and focused on prayer to honor God. In Daniel 1:8–16, Daniel ate vegetables and drank water instead of the king’s rich food, and in Daniel 10:2–3, he fasted from choice foods, meat, and wine while seeking God for understanding. The fast is meant to put ourselves in a place to hear from God by starving our flesh & feeding our spirit-man. Jesus reminds believers in Matthew 6:16–18 that fasting should be done sincerely for God rather than for attention.
To put it simply, the Daniel Fast is about setting aside distractions to grow closer to God through prayer and obedience!
